On Friday 29 May, at the Teatrino del Convitto Palmieri in Lecce, the opening ceremony will be held for the Demo Centre, the Lecce branch of the Biodiversity Gateway NBFC, housed in the east wing of the former Convitto Palmieri, as part of the National Biodiversity Future Centre, Italy’s first research centre dedicated to biodiversity, coordinated by the National Research Council.
The Demo Centre is a new public space aimed at connecting research in the natural sciences with the general public. It houses a large-scale exhibition and technological infrastructure, designed to make complex scientific content accessible through immersive, interactive and participatory experiences. The project is promoted by the CNR and involves the Puglia Region/Lecce Library and Museum Complex, the Province of Lecce (the body that owns the premises where the Demo Centre is located), the University of Salento and the DHITECH High-Tech Technology District.
